One size certainly does not fit all when it comes to exercise programming for older adults. This webinar will examine whether we are pushing older adults hard enough to elicit physiological change in skeletal muscle strength, power, and endurance, to impact daily functionality in older adults. While skeletal muscle function can be improved in older adults, the concepts of overload and progression must be applied in both personal training and group exercise classes. We will discuss the importance of assessment in determining a baseline for overload and progression. Additionally, we will discuss, from both a personal training and group exercise setting, various ways to monitor exercise intensity to promote true physiological change. In turn, these improvements can enhance functionality and quality of life.
