Assisted Living Regulations in Texas
Assisted Living State Agency
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is the state agency responsible for regulating Assisted Living in Texas. According to the HHSC website, the "HHSC provides long-term services and supports for seniors and people with disabilities, and operates state supported living centers for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and state psychiatric hospitals. HHSC also regulates health care providers, professions and facilities to protect the health and safety of Texans."

Where to Find Laws and Regulations
The state laws pertaining to assisted living facilities are contained, for the most part, in Health and Safety Code, Chapter 247. The state regulations/standards that govern Texas Assisted Living are in the Texas Administration Code, Title 26, Part I, Chapter 553.
